The Fantasista Exhibition is a celebration of contemporary football art, inspired by the rapid rise of the ‘football artist’ in the digital age.
The organisers have brought together a group of artists (including myself), whose work encapsulates the world’s most popular game. High profile names include Sir Peter Blake, Stanley Chow and Otto Li as well as a host of upcoming and established artists.
The exhibition runs from July 11th – 14th 2013 and promises to be a very high profile event, full details can be found on the Fantasista website.
Former USMNT player and current ESPN Commentator Alexi Lalas has kindly agreed to a special ‘Limited Edition Signed Series‘ of this print. There will be just 22 available (his number), read on to see some exclusive photos from our signing session
During the four day event K+S presented a soccer-art show in partnership with the Futbol Artist Network, which looked to showcase artwork from around the world depicting the many sides of the beautiful game.
This illustration will form part of my ‘F is for Football’ project, an illustrative A-Z that will feature 26 iconic players. Check my Behance site to see how each illustration / letter will look once added.
In January of this year (2013) I was approached by Adidas who asked if I would collaborate with them on a series of prints. The brief for the project was as follows:
“Each year Adidas produces a ‘Finale Ball’ for use in the knock out stages and Final match of the UEFA Champions League. The ‘Finale Wembley 13′ is the 8th such ball to have been released, we believe that this occasion lends itself to a series of bespoke prints / executions which celebrate each specific ball together with the location of each final.”
Occasionally I like to tackle concepts that will test me creatively. One such project was an attempt to come up with a design for the website Gay For Soccer – see what you think, hopefully its a fairly self explanatory concept.
If any related organisation or websites would be interested in using this design then please do get in touch.
Having already created a number of Arsenal illustrations (Highbury, Bergkamp, Walcott, Rocastle), I thought it was high time I redressed the balance and created something for my long suffering Spurs followers.
This project began life in the experimental area of my site, essentially I wanted to recreate football’s greatest moments in a Sensible Soccer style. The first piece i did paid homage to Maradona vs Belgium from 1982, but i soon wondered how easy it would be to bring these images to life and create entire sequences.
Last year I was absolutely thrilled when I was asked to contribute to COPA Football’s Spring / Summer collection for 2013.
COPA was founded in 1998 when a football addict started a small collection of traditional heavy weight cotton shirts. That collection continued to grow, with their products now found in retail and online shops in over twenty different countries, including their flagship store in Amsterdam (pictured).
This is a piece I’ve been working on recently for next years Fantasista Exhibition. The exhibition will look to celebrate players who (in the organisers own words) “are a symbol of creativity and invention, of imagination and entertainment, of artistry and magic”. So I thought where better to start than with “Zizou”.
